Inspired by the graffiti art on the subway premises, his career began when he began painting with white chalk on black paper covering empty inventory. Making the subway a canvas not only delivered his paintings to the masses, but the subway itself was a “laboratory” that shaped Keith Herring’s ideas.

In the early 1980s, he began exhibiting at galleries and museums around the world while participating in public projects such as welfare activities and the AIDS eradication campaign. He founded the Keith Herring Foundation shortly before his death in 1990 and was actively involved in social activities through art.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
